When you drive or walk through your neighborhood, you can probably spot front doors in cheery shades of red, turquoise and even yellow—and that’s just one of the recent door trends that have made their way from home expos to homeowners. But are colored doors on the way out for 2018-2019? And what other trends are on the horizon? Here are our predictions.

Blue Doors. Bright doors have been on-point for several years, but specific shades come and go. The latest up-and-coming color? All things blue. From robin’s egg to midnight, blue hues are starting to show up on doors across the country. Windsor Windows offers a VOC-free powder-coat color finish on Pinnacle and Legend HBR patio doors to give your outdoor living space a little extra oomph. If blue’s not your thing, don’t worry — we’ve got 43 colors to choose from, as well as custom color matching.

Doors with Advanced Technology. Smart locks are way more than just locks—many of them work with your smartphone to provide alerts when the door opens and closes, provide temporary digital keys or codes to guests, and can lock and unlock via a phone app. Many locks are compatible with systems such as Nest and Alexa for even more compatibility with other smart home features. Smart locks are available that are compatible with windows and slimmer doors, such as sliding and bi-fold patio doors.

Energy Efficiency. Whether windows or doors, energy efficiency is a trend that’s here to stay. The Department of Energy recommends low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings that help reduce the radiation from a warm pane of glass, which can reduce energy loss by as much as 30 to 50 percent. Our windows and doors feature Low-E glass that can help reduce your energy use, keep your home cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter. Here’s how they work.

Upscale Hardware. While you may not have the budget to outfit every door in your house with pricey chrome, you can update the look of your doors and windows simply by switching up the hardware finishes. Matte metals continue to be on-trend, but Windsor offers a variety of finishes for whatever your design preferences may be.

Whether your taste is trendy, classic, or somewhere in between, Windsor Windows & Doors has options to complement your personal style and aesthetic. To discuss options, find a dealer today.
